The Internet Race Track

While they have been a wide variety of computer technologies developed in the past decade, perhaps none is as great as a technology and hardware developed to increase the speed of the Internet. This increased speed is more than a simple added benefit of the Internet. Instead, faster Internet speeds mean the common person had access to more technologies, making the computer a far more effective tool for everyone who uses it.
Consider for example computer software. For many years, the only way to get a new program was to purchase a disk containing the required software. This was effective, but not very efficient. With increased Internet speeds has come the ability to download a variety of software programs online making it unnecessary to order the old fashioned this copy of many different programs.
The increase in Internet speed has also made the Internet more effective as a communications tool.  Originally, the only option available to those interested in utilizing the Internet for communications relied solely on email.  Next came instant messages.  Today, we have moved onto a world of video chat and web cams.  In short, users have access to far greater communication tools than ever before.  We can even utilize the Internet to make phone calls.
Finally, the increase in speed has made the internet a more effective entertainment tool.  Downloading full-length movies was once a pipe dream, but today it isn’t just possible – it’s common.
The increase in the speed of the Internet has directly changed the way most user take advantage of it.  Online banking, downloading full-length records and live web chats are just a few of the advancements that faster internet speeds have made possible.
